Professor Anthony O'Hear to give course at Chavagnes

I am delighted to confirm the participation of Professor Anthony O'Hear as the main tutor at the Chavagnes Great Books Summer Course 2009. Professor O'Hear is Director of the Royal Institute of Philosophy, Garston Professor of Philosophy at the University of Buckingham and Head of Buckingham University's School of Education.

The 1o-day course, from 26th July to 4th August will introduce to participants to Professor O'Hear's selection of the most important figures in the western literary tradition from Homer to the modern age. Our study of some of the greatest and most creative minds of human history, which has been called 'the great conversation', will inform and inspire all lovers of culture during what promises to be a literary and cultural holiday to remember.

Evening entertainments, good French food and wine, and visits to local sites of cultural interest will complete this cultural house party in the heart of rural France, in the company of some leading British and American scholars: writer Denis Boyles; co-editor of Saint Austin Review Robert Asch ; and Principal and Founder of Chavagnes International College, Ferdi McDermott.

The standard price for the 10-day course, including bed and board, is 850 euros per person, based on twin or double rooms. Contact Ferdi McDermott at greatbooks@chavagnes.org for more information or to reserve your place.
